Description

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate vehicles used for the transport of people with disabilities.

Purpose

This course is designed to provide participants with a range of knowledge and skills to perform the following functions associated with Transporting Passengers with disabilities including

  • Pre-operational checks of the vehicle and its ancillary equipment
  • Assistance to passengers in the use of restraints and ancillary equipment
  • Provision of appropriate support to passengers during their journey
  • Manoeuvring the vehicle with due consideration of passengers’ disabilities
  • Requirements of relevant government regulations.

Duration

Mobility Engineering is offering this course as a 1-day face to face program. The duration is 7 hours including breaks

Entry requirements

Participants do not require any specific skills or abilities and there is no limitation to access this course. To facilitate successful completion of this course, it is recommended that the participant is

  • Fluent in reading and writing English
  • Have the physical ability to freely manoeuvre around the interior of a vehicle

Assessment requirement

During the course, you will be required to participate in both theory assessment as well as practical assessment including fitting a variety types of child restraints in a classroom and simulated workplace environment.

Delivery mode

This course is delivered face to face by our trainer/ assessor. All training activities and assessments will need to be completed within the course.

Materials or equipment required

Mobility Engineering will provide all training equipment and learning materials including learner guides, stationary such as notepads and pens.

Students will need to bring:

  • Suitable comfortable clothing which allows the participant to bend and move around freely inside the car and closed-toe footwear for a practical assessment.
  • Sunscreen or Hat (When Practical assessment is conducted in an outdoor environment)
