Description

This qualification will provide skills and knowledge for those wanting to gain a thorough knowledge of Child restraint installation or work as a child restraint installer.

Purpose

This course is designed to provide participants with a range of knowledge and skills to perform the following functions associated with selection and installation of child restraints

  • Understand and apply the relevant child restraint legislation
  • Select suitable Child Restraint for a child based on the age and height
  • Ensure correct fitment and adjustment of child restraint in a suitable vehicle
  • Identify and apply the most suitable accessories to improve restraint fitment

Duration

Mobility Engineering is offering this course as a 1-day face to face program. The duration is 7 hours including breaks.

Entry requirements

Participants do not require any specific skills or abilities and there is no limitation to access this course. To facilitate successful completion of this course, it is recommended that the participant is

  • Fluent in reading and writing English
  • Have the physical ability to freely manoeuvre around the interior of a vehicle

Assessment requirement

During the course you will be required to participate in both theory assessment as well as practical assessment including fitting variety types of child restraints in a classroom and simulated workplace environment.

Delivery mode

This course is delivered face to face by our trainer/ assessor. All training activities and assessment will need to be completed on the same day.

Elective Units

  • NAT10832001 – Select and install child restraints

Materials or equipment required

Mobility Engineering will provide

  • Child Restraints that comply with Australian Standard (AS/NZS 1754) (If required) for demonstration and assessments
  • All learning materials including learner guides, stationary such as notepads and pens

Students will need to bring

  • Suitable comfortable clothing which allows the participant to bend and move around freely inside the car and closed toe footwear for practical assessment.
  • Sunscreen or Hat (When Practical assessment is conducted in outdoor environment)
